The Division of Nephrology at Albany Medical College is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Transplant Nephrologist to join its growing and collaborative abdominal transplant program. This position offers a balanced practice that combines transplant nephrology and general nephrology responsibilities, with opportunities to help shape the future direction of a modern and expanding transplant program.
This role offers:
The opportunity of a combined practice in transplant nephrology and general nephrology.
Participation in inpatient transplant care and multidisciplinary transplant rounds
Involvement in the medical management of kidney transplant recipients, including immunosuppression management, graft function evaluation, and transplant-specific care.
Equally shared coverage of transplant-related inpatient consults and transplant nephrology call responsibilities.
Participation in outpatient transplant clinics, including:
Pre-transplant recipient evaluations.
Living donor evaluations.
Post-transplant follow-up care.
Ongoing expansion initiatives including NKR program.
Collaboration with transplant surgery, advanced practice providers, coordinators, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary support teams.
Opportunities to participate in organ offer review and recipient selection discussions as transplant volume continues to grow.
Active involvement in quality improvement, and transplant program development initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have:
Experience managing kidney transplant recipients across inpatient and outpatient settings, preferably in the last 2 years.
Interest in helping expand and modernize a multidisciplinary transplant program.

Qualifications:
Fellowship training in Transplant Nephrology from an accredited transplant nephrology fellowship program.
MD/DO or equivalent degree with board certification or eligibility in Nephrology
Demonstrated clinical expertise in nephrology subspecialty care
Eligible for medical licensure in the state of New York.
Academic experience or interest sufficient for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach to care.
