Description
Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) in St. Petersburg, Florida has initiated a search for a surgical leader to assume the dual role of Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery. Both positions report directly to the Chair of Surgery.
As Vice Chair, the candidate will play a key role in leading clinical affairs across multiple surgical subspecialties ---both employed and private practice--- based at numerous access locations and affiliates in the greater Tampa Bay region. This leader will be responsible for creating and executing goals in both operational and strategic lanes. The candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills. An ability to effectively collaborate with administrative and executive leaders both intra- and extramurally is essential.
As the Division Chief of Pediatric General Surgery, the candidate will be accountable for the scope, standards, and quality of the pediatric general surgery and trauma service line. The Division Chief will be responsible for the Pediatric General Surgery business unit and, as importantly, will mentor faculty in this academic division in support of educational, research, and innovation goals.
The Department of Surgery at JHACH comprises ten divisions (pediatric surgery, thoracic surgery, plastic surgery, urology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology and pathology & laboratory medicine). It is the largest pediatric academic department of surgery on the west coast of Florida with a mission focused on clinical care, research, education and advocacy.
The Division of Pediatric General Surgery provides a full spectrum of pediatric surgical care to the children of the Tampa Bay region and the West coast of Florida. The twelve pediatric surgeons and ten advanced practice providers of the Division support key programs across a wide range of tertiary and quaternary care. The Division is based at JHACH; however, it also covers the area’s largest academic teaching hospital as well as a local community hospital. The Division has a strong educational mission with ACGME-accredited fellowships in both Pediatric Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. It is a training site for residents from two general surgery training programs and hosts a variety of other rotating learners. The Division is also committed to research and education. Two research fellows and a clinical research program support the activity of the Divisional members.
